Ebook About
Being a mage isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Especially when you’ve witnessed the end of the world and the demise of all you’ve ever loved. As a particle physicist, William Jenkins is as unsuited to survival on an alien world as any normal thirty-something post-doc could be. Thankfully, he’s not alone. With an A.I., magic, scientific curiosity and most improbably, a deity on his side, Will must come to terms with his new reality before otherworldly terrors forever extinguish the light of hope on this new world.Meanwhile, as the forces of darkness amass to invade her home, Effni Naridia, Qaseri Ranger and Guardian of her peoples, must face her own demons. By undertaking a trial, Effni could determine not only the fate of her city, but unravel a mystery aeons in the making. The Last Physicist features elements of progression fantasy and Gamelit, and is perfect for those who enjoy stories by Andrew Rowe, Will Wight and Andy Weir.Warning. This novel contains questionable quantum mechanics, general relativity and magic.Note: this book also features profanity, vivid depictions of violence, pain and gore, along with depictions of mental health issues (including PTSD, generalised anxiety and depression) some readers may find distressing.

Book The Last Physicist: A Gamelit/Portal Fantasy Adventure (The Archon Book 1) Review :

Some original and interesting ideas but the great majority of this book is filler. As an example.A battle between the mc and a massive army of demons lasts a couple of paragraphs. His conversation with the first person he meets on the new world lasts chapters with the mc assessing and reassessing everything she says to the nth degree after every couple of sentences of conversation. There was even an extremely boring conversation that started with an obscure quote that wasn’t explained until many pages and a chapter later when most readers will have forgotten all about the quote.I’ll admit that when the mc was given the option to become superman only more powerful and he chose to be a limited version of brainiac that bothered me also. If I can’t understand why the mc would make a particular choice it takes me out of the story.
So initially I really enjoyed the book. Had a solid 4* review percolating in the back of my brain and by 60% in was even considering it might earn that highly elusive 5th *. I was enjoying it that much. Then by 62% the author took away the feature that brought me the most actual entertainment in this story. Luckily it still had one feature that provided a great amount of potential to the life span of the series itself to hold onto my interest... which the author then irrevocably burned away around 95% in. Then "insult to injury" had he stopped the book at Quin's last appearance the book could have ended with a simple not to be continued attitude on my part. But no. Instead he threw in a few pages that reminded and reinforced the fact the book removed both elements worth reading about in an unpleasant scene I neither enjoyed the actions, thoughts, nor interactions of the parties involved. Ending the book on a very unsatisfying note. Then the fact I found Will to be rather bland. Not an invisible hard to find kind of bland though. More like a cluster of negativeness that left you uninterested about what his next whining breakdown will be about. Because your still trying to process how much the breakdown he experienced 47 break downs and just 10 pages ago is going to affect the rest of the book. Yea, he is such a frequently broken individual that it numbs you to it instead of drawing you in. Granted this gets better some 60%-70% into the book but by then the damage is pretty much ingrained. Though in never actually go away either.***THE FOLLOWING IS SPOILER MATERIAL***Asterisk was perhaps the best AI I have come across in literature. It was fun, generally light and pleasant. Unlike most literature AI that are sarcastic, abusive and generally unpleasant balls of nastiness that make reading the stories they are in hard to even finish. Forget actually enjoy and help you relax. It was a great foil to defuse Wills negativity against.Carnomancy was an incredible amount of potential in that it didn't so much heal his wounds as reset his body back to a set temporal template. Breathing? Uncomfortable to do without but not really necessary. Brain dead? Just let the magic build up a bit more not really an issue. Cell death? What's that got to do with me? Please don't ask my actual age. Especially important considering the fact his chronomancy has him experiencing days of time in just an hour's time to everyone else. Just 400 days? He gonna already be dead of old age long before the armistice ends now without carnomancy to keep him alive. Let alone the fact friction alone from moving just a foot is going to burn him to ash. As it's already a confirmed side effect of motion against even air molecules at such speeds in the story.... reaaally didn't think that through did you?Not yet sure if just this series is going on my black list. Or if the author themselves are gonna make the "hell nope" list as being contradictoraly self destructive.
